Wills and Kate Tie the Knot!

So,  I don't have the crazy Royal Wedding fever that seems to be going around the media this week, but I am a little interested, I'm not going to lie. Mostly, I think I want to see Kate's dress, but there's a little more to it than that.

When I was in middle school, my best friend and I were craaaaazy in love with Prince William. We fought over who would get to marry him and signed our notes and letters to each other as "Her Royal Highness Princess Ashley of Wales". Pictures of William, cut out of magazines, covered my walls and I was always daydreaming of how he would one day sweep me off my feet and give everything to marry a commoner like myself.

Once his boyish charm and good looks wore off, though, I have to admit, I forgot all about the boy who would be King someday. And truthfully, if I had to pick a prince these days, it would probably be Harry. But, in honor of our childhood crushes, my BFF and I have decided we're going to stay up all night on Thursday, watching the Royal Wedding, wearing tiaras and sipping champagne.

How cute are these camel colored gloves - they even have Kate's ring sewn into the right finger on the gloves - and the t-shirt? High-larious! I might have to get two of those for our Royal Wedding viewing event. Not to mention - the tiara. How amazing is that tiara? I am afraid if I got it, I would never take it off, though....

Also, while dressing for your Royal Wedding event, one cannot forget to wear a fabulous hat, every British woman knows how important that is!

Warm Weather Style

Ok, so truly, spring hasn't even arrived in Seattle quite yet. However, I've (naturally) already started planning what I would like to wear this summer - what my style and look will be once it finally warms up. With the inspiration of Coachella looks from last weekend all over the web, I've really been feeling a boho, slightly messy, partially distressed, hippie style and cannot wait for it to be hot so I can start putting together my outfits!

The first look I am all about right now is slouchy tanks with distressed, ripped, comfortable jeans. I just love the ease of this and the casual, beachy, Southern-California vibe to it.

These True Religion jeans on the left are some of my favorites. I bought this same pair years ago and there were insanely comfortable and they make your behind look fabulous! Sadly, mine ripped beyond repair last spring, so they are going to need replacing!

Ok, so perhaps the biggest thing I am into this season is shirts that are off the shoulder. I am not kidding you guys, I am obsessed. I have bought at least 3-4 shirts recently that slouch off the shoulder. It may seem 80's style to you, but I am all about it.

Matteo Colombo Photography

This photo is so beautiful, it looks like a painting to me. This was taken in the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany, Italy and this right here, this is my heart and soul. I've been to this place before and I can't count the number of times I have returned to this picturesque valley in my mind. I could spend my life in this photograph.

 I know at first glance, this picture appears creepy, but I think there is something so romantic and tragic about this as well. I don't know where its from or where it was taken, I imagine some place of ruin - mainly because it reminds me of what I saw in Pompeii when I visited, but they are together forever.

This picture blows my mind for its creativity. Its an image of hundreds of tourist photographs of the Eiffel Tower, all layered over one another. This is a piece of artwork I would die to hang on my wall! She has an entire series of famous landmarks done this way. Makes you wonder if we all see it the same...

Latest Cool and Clever Finds...

With all of the hours I spend tweeting, facebooking, blogging and researching articles on the internet, I have to keep a little file with all of the fantastic finds and clever things that I find online. Here's some of the latest...

Ok, so first up, when I saw this, I nearly died. I have got to find out where this is and if it truly exists, because if it does, I am so there!

Tree camping, people! How incredible does this look? I am starting to get the feeling its not for real, but oh, if it were!

Next up, an amazing calendar from designer and artist Oscar Diaz...

I am not sure how well this would really work, time-wise, but its a really cool concept. Using the capillary action of ink on the paper, the calendar uses the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper, to indicate time. The ink is absorbed slowly and apparently, the numbers on the calendar are "printed" daily. I love how inventive and different this idea is.

Another amazing piece of art I stumbled on recently, is a giant installation at the 21st Century Museum of Art, in Japan, from artist Leandro Erlich.

It's a fake pool! 

The top surface is filled with 4-5 inches of water, so it appears from the top, to look like a realistic pool. The people underneath the swimming pool, can look up and see a realistic water effect above them, but the water layer is only about 10 centimeters deep and is suspended over transparent glass. Viewers enter the empty pool space beneath to experience the effect. I gotta say, I kinda love it. 

Finally, this last find makes me wish I worked for National Geographic, because its just such a cool thing to try. Just last month, they tried to create a real-life version of Pixar's animated film, "Up". 

The whole thing was apparently filmed for a series on the National Geographic Channel, called "How Hard Could it Be?" - set to premiere this coming fall. National Geographic got a team of scientists, engineers and two balloon pilots together and they successfully launched a 16x16 foot house that was 18 feet tall. Using 300 eight foot weather balloons, they sent the house up from a private airfield outside of Los Angeles.

Wouldn't that have been fun to see in person?

Take Notice Necklaces

My grandmother was one of the first fashionistas that I ever laid eyes on. Looking back at old photos, I always find myself marveling at her sleek, chic outfits and perfectly chosen accessories. She had a particular thing for jewelry - big cocktail rings, a long pearl necklace and pieces that always made a statement. I like to think that I inherited her love of fashion and jewelry, as well as her knack for choosing fabulous pieces - especially when it comes to big rings and bold necklaces.

Elva Fields is always a given when it comes to statement necklaces - and if I had the extra cash in my wallet, the first place I would go for a bejeweled bauble or two. I love how she attaches vintage brooches and pieces to her beaded necklaces - it makes them truly unique.
